The MyCase integration

Connect MyCase and LawKPIs starts reading your cases, time, and billing the same day. Every dashboard and every Daily Pulse email is built from that data, joined against accounting and intake once you add those too.

What LawKPIs reads from MyCase, and what it builds

Nothing is written back. LawKPIs reads the fields below on a regular schedule and turns them into the dashboards and daily flags on the right.

What LawKPIs reads
  • •Cases — status, practice area, assigned attorney, open and close dates
  • •Time entries — hours logged, timekeeper, activity, billable vs. non-billable, rate
  • •Billing — invoices, invoice line items, discounts, and write-offs
  • •Trust accounting fields relevant to reporting — trust balances and retainer status by case
  • •Clients and contacts, so cases can be rolled up by client and referral source
What it unlocks
  • •Case and practice-area profitability, ranked by dollar impact rather than hours logged
  • •Realization rate — what was actually billed against what the work was worth at standard rates
  • •Attorney and staff utilization against target hours, updated daily
  • •Work-in-progress aging, so unbilled time doesn't sit unnoticed for months
  • •Daily Pulse flags for the cases and timekeepers most worth attention that day
Why this matters

MyCase tells you what got billed. It doesn't tell you what it was worth.

MyCase is a solid record of what happened on a matter — the hours, the invoices, the notes. What it can't show on its own is what actually landed in the bank after discounts, adjustments, and invoices that sat unpaid. A case that looks strong by hours billed can still be losing money once real collections come into it. That's the gap LawKPIs closes: MyCase gives you the activity, QuickBooks Online gives you the outcome, and joined together they give you the number worth acting on.

You don't need the accounting connection to start. MyCase alone is enough for Daily Pulse to flag utilization gaps, aging WIP, and billing patterns worth a look from day one. QuickBooks Online is what upgrades those numbers from billing-based to collection-based.

Questions

MyCase integration FAQ

Does LawKPIs write anything back to MyCase?+

No. The connection is read-only. LawKPIs reads case, time, and billing data to build dashboards and Daily Pulse — it never creates, edits, or deletes anything in MyCase.

How long does the MyCase connection take?+

A few minutes. You sign in to MyCase through an OAuth-style connect screen and approve read access, the same way you'd connect any other app.

Do I need QuickBooks connected before MyCase is useful on its own?+

No. MyCase alone gets Daily Pulse and the core dashboards running the same day. Connecting QuickBooks Online afterward adds real collections on top, which turns a billing-based profitability number into a true one.

Will connecting MyCase change how our team works in it day to day?+

No. LawKPIs pulls data on a schedule in the background. Nobody at your firm needs to change how time or billing is entered in MyCase.

Can we connect MyCase alongside a separate intake tool?+

Yes. MyCase handles matters, time, and billing. If your firm also runs Lawmatics or Clio Grow for intake, that's a separate connection covered on its own integration page, and the two are joined together automatically once both are connected.
